Ezulwini Billy's Lodge is a grand structure accentuated with leadwood pillars and thatched ceilings, and featuring a raised skywalk that leads to a private waterhole.

There are both standard and luxury suites, accommodating a total of 12 people, while the main lodge has a unique indoor bar, boma area, and a leather-suite lounge area.

Billy's Lodge, like River Lodge, has a swimming pool and serves delectable homemade meals under the stars in the glowing presence of lanterns and a dancing fireplace. Luxury suites have private plunge pools and views of the wild surrounds.

Features and Facilities

Ezulwini Billy's Lodge occupies a unique location on a seasonal riverbed, which is a regular corridor for feeding elephants and various other game.

Room facilities offer comfort and convenience, while the main guest areas and various viewing points leave one spoilt for choice. Billy's Lodge communal area has a bar, indoor lounge, TV, and dining room; shaded main deck with leather couches and views into the bush. Suites have private plunge pools, while the main swimming pool is available for all guests to use.

The unique skywalk leads off the main deck to a viewing deck overlooking waterhole. An open-air boma and a wine cellar built into a natural rock cave with handcrafted display table add to the unique merit of Billy's Lodge.


The Balule Reserve is part of the Greater Kruger Park, located on the western boundary of the Kruger National Park in South Africa’s Limpopo Province.

Balule is approximately 23km from Hoedspruit, which is a safari hotspot for visitors of the Greater Kruger Region. Only 40 minutes from Hoedspruit town, Ezulwini is located just outside of the hub of excitement, and offers visitors a tranquil environment in which to unwind.

Ezulwini Lodges are only a few minutes drive into the reserve from the Olifants West gate and are settled beautifully in their individual locations.

Getting There

Hoedspruit is the closest town to Ezulwini at 45 minutes’ drive. Most guests arrive at Hoedspruit Eastgate airport and drive or transfer the 30km stretch to the lodge.

Upon arrival at Hoedspruit airport guests can pick up their rental cars or join their transfer team who will be ready and waiting for them. Guests driving themselves can follow these very simple directions to Ezulwini from Hoedspruit airport:

Turn right onto Argyle road upon exiting the airport gates and drive straight until you reach the T-junction with the R40. Turn right onto the R40 that takes you through Hoedspruit town in the direction of Phalaborwa. About 20km after Hoedspruit on the R40, the gates for the Olifants West Game Reserve will appear on your right.
